Despite Western pressure, Russia reveals the largest buyer of Russian weapons

Dmitry Shugayev, director of the Russian Military and Technical Cooperation Agency, stated that India remains an important defense partner for Russia.


Despite the unprecedented pressure India is experiencing from Western countries led by the United States due to Russia's special military operation in Ukraine, Shugaev claimed that India has ordered more than $10 billion in weapons and military equipment from Russia.


Almost 20% of Moscow's current orders come from India, which is currently the largest buyer of Russian arms worldwide.


While Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi has urged dialogue and diplomacy to end the crisis, now in its 12th month, New Delhi has not explicitly condemned Russia's military campaign in Ukraine.


Shugaev added that some Southeast Asian countries and India are interested in buying Russian weapons.


According to him, the "S-400 Triumph" missile defense system and short-range surface-to-air missile systems such as "Osa", "Pechora" or "Strela", in addition to the "Su-30" and "Mig-29" combat aircraft and drones. Pilot, with special interest from customers in Asia.


Fulfillment of defense orders is given high priority in the military special operation, so the Russian official claims that the country can adjust the schedule for its arms shipments.
